Reflecting on the Past

Written by:

This year, our church is celebrating our 100th anniversary, and this week’s service was on reflecting on our past. It’s also Red Dress Day, in honour of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women. Because of everything going on, this one was a bit of a challenge for me, and it’s a different mix from usual.

For the 100th anniversary theme of reflecting on our past…

I made a crossword of facts about the year 1924, when the church was founded, including the fact that the first crossword was published that year by Simon and Schuster (free).

Colouring page from Toronto Public Library’s Digital Archives Ontario colouring book (free).

First Flight colouring sheet from Lorna Johnstone Art (free).

Matching activity (1900s and present) from the Homeschool Den’s Then and Now Worksheets (free).

Body of Christ colouring sheet from Sermons4Kids (free).

Red Dress Day Honouring MMIW

I also wanted to have a special activity for Red Dress Day. I chose a window art activity (free – template here) from the Office of the Treaty Commissioner.
