Warriors for Christ

Please note that there will be no post next week. Due to the long weekend, our congregation is being hosted by another church in order to give our pastoral staff a vacation!

This week, our congregation is loosely following the lectionary, and the the scripture this week is about the armour of God. The worship leaders decided to take this theme to explore ideas of holding the complexities of two conflicting beliefs at the same time, and thinking about ways of working with people or ideas that are possibly in conflict with our own beliefs.

This will be another smaller week in terms of attendance, because we’re still in summer services.

Daily Truths Cards: Armor of God from Visual Faith Ministry (free).

Ways to Connect With People worksheet from the Happy Newspaper: Ways to Connect by Emily Coxhead, found on Twinkl (free).

I also found these armor of God bookmarks at my local Mennonite bookstore, so I picked up a pack for folks to help themselves to.

To accompany the Daily Truth Cards and the bookmarks, I made this little poster – feel free to use it!

Teamwork word search from Twinkl.

Last week, I added a couple of last-minute, summer-themed additions to the activities that I will provide again to keep this last summer service at our congregation lively: a summer patterning worksheet and a summer jokes codebreaker from Teachers Pay Teachers (free).

Finally, the green pea poppers that I had ordered for our fidget box also arrived, and they’re great, so I was able to add those to the box this week, too! Which is a good thing, because at least half of the new additions from last week are missing. I’m going to have to do a bit of detective work to see if I can track some of them down. (For a more complete update on our fidget and stim toy assortment, check out last week’s post.)
